Imagine if we were quarantined or existing during a stay-at-home order without our electronic devices, televisions, wireless internet, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Life would be crazy! Luckily, we have the advantage and luxury of technology and the internet so we can tune into our favorite shows and movies while we’re at home. Now that I have a little extra time on my hands, I can binge watch shows that I didn’t have time for in the past. I have a few suggestions for you if you’re looking for something good to watch! I’m also a part of a few Face Book groups that make suggestions for shows and movies on Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix!
NETFLIX
SELF-MADE– is an awesome series inspired by the life of Madame CJ Walker. This show was recommended by a family friend and features stars like Octavia Spencer, Blair Underwood, and Tiffany Haddish. I’ll admit, I didn’t know much about her story and who knew she was a self-made millionaire. It touches on the struggles of African American entrepreneurship, industry competition, and passion of owning your own business.
LOVE IS BLIND– this was recommended by my Face Book group and I’ll admit, I wasn’t so sure about it based off the comments. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Once I started watching it, I was hooked. I was so happy for one of the couples of made it through and I follow this couple on Instagram! I am truly excited for their love and whirlwind romance!
TIGER KING- Before you judge me, lol, I was genuinely interested in this train wreck of a show. I couldn’t help but figure out the meaning behind the memes, gifs, and hashtags! This show is truly a mess and it takes a wild turn after episode three. It’s one to watch, because they are doing some follow up stories and interviews with the cast.
OZARK– I was hooked on Ozark from the very beginning. It’s one to watch without distractions because something important is always happening in each episode. Jason Bateman is an awesome and you create emotional attachments to characters.
RIVERDALE-Based off the characters of Archie Comics! It has four seasons and truly one of my favorite shows to binge.
LUCIFER-A great show based off the fallen angel, but with some serious story lines and comedy. The main character (Lucifer) is engaging, sarcastic, and creates some drama on his own. It’s a great mix of crime, romance, comedy, and biblical references.
AMAZON PRIME
DIRTY JOHN– Thanks to a coworker and friend, I was hooked on Dirty John when it was out as a podcast and aired on Lifetime. Amazon picked this show up and they’re showing the series. I recommend that you listen to the podcast first. If you’ve ever dated a guy like Dirty John or know someone who did, it may strike a nerve!
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER– An amazing show starting Viola Davis. It’s a legal thriller about a criminal defense attorney and professor who becomes involved in various murder plots.
HULU
KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS– Whether you’re a fan or not, this series is addicting. It’s cool to look back and see where it all started, the birth of all the kids, and the crazy family dynamics. I think we can relate to some of the cast and some of the moments that occur in this show. I definitely laughed, cried, and had flashbacks to where I was in life when these seasons aired.
